This post is to let you know For Love of the Earth is shutting down. The reason for this is actually quite positive:
When I started this site three years ago, there was a lack of this kind of reference, and people around me just didn’t know what to do or where to start to make their lifestyle more nature-friendly. Since then, the problem of plastic has exploded into mainstream consciousness, along with the urgency of making these changes on both small and large scale. Resource sites for zero-waste, plastic-free etc have mushroomed, laws have been passed, and everything from newspapers to supermarkets are taking it up and making it easier. Today, you’d have to go out of your way not to be exposed to sustainable solutions.
It was always difficult for me to juggle FLotE with my actual responsibilities, and now that so many others have taken up the call, it’s only sensible to leave this job to those who can put their total focus on it. (My hand was also forced a bit by the cost of my hosting plan rising, so I had to make a decision before the October renewal date).
Instead, I started a more modest blog on my personal website where I still post recipes, DIY and other things that I use, or focus on, in my own slow living. Some of the contents of FLotE will migrate there, but feel free to save any info you may want to keep, as it will probably close down in late summer.
Thank you so much for caring about the living world!
